Seniors Connect Club Program

This program empowers older adults by providing them with resources, tools, and skills to overcome barriers to inclusion. It also strengthens protective factors by fostering the creation of social hubs for connecting, learning, establishing a sense of belonging, and offering opportunities for contribution.

ARTS AND CRAFTS
​
Explore the fundamentals of drawing and painting using various mediums like pencils, charcoal, acrylic paint, oil pastels, and more. Crafting activities include card making, paper folding, and flower crafting.
FITNESS
Led by qualified instructors with specialized training to enhance mobility for older adults, weekly sessions are held online and in-person. Includes strength and mobility training, improving joint health, enhance muscle tones as well as agility and cardio exercises.
TEA & SOCIAL
​
Join our weekly in-person social gathering at Symons Valley United Church and other locations. Connect with fellow participants, make new friends, engage in games, share skills and find opportunities to support other seniors in the community.
CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH
These classes are offered at the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced level. These are focused
on general English conversation skills, improving vocabulary and ready on a wide variety of
topics of interest. All classes are led by experienced ESL teachers.​
ENHANCED BUDDY TECH CLASSES
Offered both in person at VIVO (
11950 Country Village Link NE), Coop (8818 Macleod Trail SE), and online (via ZOOM).

1. Offer technology classes driven by volunteers, with the primary goal of assisting older adults in optimizing their device usage.
2. 
Classes are individual instruction based where learners are able to acquire digital proficiencies at their own comfortable pace.
3. 
Our instructional approach emphasizes small group learning and caters to multiple languages, including English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. 
​4. 
Currently, we provide classes for both Beginner and Intermediate learners, focusing on the effective utilization of cellphones, tablets, and laptops. ​
