Jim Wong, Director
Jim is a made in China individual, immigrating to Canada at age 7 and spending his youth years in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Jim was a lumberjack in BC and later decided to move to Calgary to seek the black gold. Jim worked as a power lineman, designer, system architect and business integrator. Jim believes in giving back to society and hence have served on non-profit Boards for many years. Since he is a senior, the services provided by MPC Foundation excite Jim.
Imaculada Prata, Secretary
Ima has extensive experience in freight forwarding worldwide along with outstanding administrative professionals. She always gives the best for whatever she does, in special for our community, non-profit organization, and social work. She is passionate about sports in particular beach and hardcourt volleyball, which she still plays. It allows her to transfer her experience as a team player, engaging different levels of players to work together for the same cause. Most over, respecting the adversary. Ima speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English, and studying French.
Davin Lam, CPA, Treasurer
Davin loves to volunteer in his spare time helping those in need and the experience that follows. A little about Davin, he is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and a music enthusiast with a level 10 Piano certification and also loves to play the guitar and drums. He loves to travel as well as learning about different cultures and different ways of life around the world.
Lily Kwok, Director
Lily immigrated from Hong Kong in 2003 and she is a social worker by training. Lily has had ample experiences working with at risk youth, family and seniors. Since Lily came to Canada, she has worked in different non-profits, where the work involves advocacy and community engagement, funding applications, service reviews and service quality improvement. Lily was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her contributions to the community. In her spare time, Lily likes photography, where she finds internal peace and feel connected with nature.
Marcus Cheung, MSW, RSW, Director
Marcus is a Registered Social Worker and counsellor and has had extensive experience in providing counselling and mental health services. Marcus’s clinical practice and interests are focused on men and mental health, domestic violence, trauma, and masculinity. Throughout his career, he has also worked extensively serving men and boys and other vulnerable populations, including working with adult and child victims of abuse. Marcus also has a vast interest in community work and has been an active member of many committees that focus on violence prevention, including the Calgary Domestic Violence Collective, East Calgary Family Violence Collaborative, and the Sexuality and Gender Diversity Advisory Board with the Calgary Police Services.
Tiffany Smith, Board Chair
Tiffany Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature with a minor in Behavioural Science from Ambrose University. She is currently a Human Resources Advisor and has a passion for teaching English as a Second Language. Her experience in Human Resources and Recruiting has led her to teach many ESL classes on how to job search- from resume writing to interview skills. In her spare time, Tiffany loves reading, writing, and is looking forward to the opportunity to continue to serve others in the community.
Soma Sundari, Director
Soma has been teaching IT applications for about 15 years to a wide range of students in different parts of the world. She has a Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications. Soma is a Microsoft Certified Trainer and has a Microsoft Office Specialist Masters certificate and teaches various Desktop Application courses. Soma is currently working as a Development Analyst for Advancement Data, University of Calgary. Soma has volunteered in various community organizations and excited to be a part of this team to serve seniors.
